Ownership, funding & AI disclosure

Readers deserve to know who publishes what they read, who pays for it, and how it is produced. This page sets all three out plainly.

Who publishes The Global Wire

The Global Wire is published by Horizon Global News, an independent digital publisher. It is privately owned and independently operated, with no political party, government, campaign group or media conglomerate holding any stake in or control over the newsroom. Editorial decisions are made solely by the editorial team.

Editorial enquiries: editor@horizonglobalnews.com. Postal and press contacts are on our contact page.

How we are funded

  • Reader support — one-time and monthly contributions through our support page. Supporters read the site ad-free. Supporting us buys no influence over coverage.
  • Advertising — programmatic display advertising. Advertisers have no access to, sight of, or influence over editorial content, and no story is commissioned, altered or suppressed for an advertiser.

We publish no sponsored articles, no paid links, no affiliate placements inside editorial copy, and no press releases presented as reporting. If that ever changes, any commercial content will be labelled as such at the top of the page.

Where our stories come from

The Global Wire is a world-news desk, not a wire service. Our reporters do not attend the events we cover. Each story begins with reporting first published by an established outlet; we verify the core facts against the original report, write our own account of the event, add the background, context and consequences a short wire item leaves out, and credit and link the originating outlet prominently — in the byline area, in the text, and in the attribution box at the foot of every story. Every outlet we credit has its own source page listing the stories we based on their reporting.

How we use AI

We use AI as a drafting tool inside an editor-supervised pipeline — never as an autonomous publisher of unchecked claims. Specifically:

  • Story selection is filtered against a published quality bar: gossip, clickbait, listicles, promotional items and betting or shopping content are rejected outright.
  • Drafts must be grounded strictly in the source reporting supplied to them. Invented quotes, statistics, names and events are prohibited, and drafts that speculate are discarded.
  • Every draft is checked automatically for length, structure, context sections and duplication before it can be published, and any story failing those checks is dropped rather than published thin.
  • Editors can revise, correct or unpublish any story at any time; all changes are logged in version history and surfaced under our corrections policy.
  • Translated editions are machine-translated from the English original and labelled as such; they are excluded from search indexing so the canonical English report is the version search engines rank.

The newsroom, not the tool, is accountable for everything published here. Editorial responsibility sits with The Global Wire.
